The Okuma SLV Diecast Aluminum fly reel is one of the best in the marketplace, especially considering the low cost. It makes a worthy addition to the brand and is sure to make a fantastic addition to any fly fisherman’s tackle. It comes in a wide variety of sizes, suitable for any pole from 2wt to 11wt so this series is suitable for a wide range of functions as well.

The SLV series is made entirely of precisely machined aluminum and has a roller bearing which makes sure the drag system works only on the way out. What does this mean for you? It means a smooth retrieve that’s sure to make almost any fisherman pleased with the workings.

The drag is controlled by a simple stainless steel and cork disc system which is normally only found on much more costly reels. It’s simple to control and sure to maintain a consistent amount of pressure throughout the day.

The Okuma SLV series fly reels are made of machined aluminum. It lacks an anti-corrosion coating, though, so you’ll want to be careful with cleaning and maintenance if you use one of the higher weight reels for marine fishing.

Overall this fly reel is great for almost any angler and they come in at an unbelievably low price point for the value. The wide range of options available means that almost any fisherman will be able to benefit from having, at least, one of the sizes available for their use.

All things considered, the Okuma SLV series of reel is an absolute winner for amateurs and fishermen on a budget. Even experienced fishermen might want to get in on the action by investing in one that’s in a size different from their more expensive gear.
